The fast of Mahashivaratri (MahaShivratri 2022) is observed on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phagan.  This time the auspicious date is Tuesday, March 1.  This time there will be a rare coincidence on Mahashivaratri.  One day before Shivratri i.e. Monday 28th February and since it is Triodashi, Mon Pradosh fast will be observed on this day.  Thus, for three consecutive days, there will be a special puja on March 1, Mahashivaratri and on March 2, Amavasya.  It is believed that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married on the day of Mahashivaratri and Bholenath renounced the ascetic life and adopted a household life.  Fasting on this day brings good luck.  Most importantly, devotees will be able to worship in temples and Shivalayas this year as the transition to Koro has been reduced.  Preparations have also started for special events related to the festival.

 Coincidence of five planets

This time on Mahashivaratri, the yoga of the great union of the five planets and the union of the two auspicious yogas is happening, which is considered to be the fulfillment of mental work.  Kedar Yoga will also take place on Tuesday in Capricorn with the coincidence of Venus, Mars, Mercury, Moon, Saturn.  Which is very beneficial for worship and adoration.  The coincidence of Shiva worship will start from Pradosh on 28th February i.e. Monday.  Due to which there will be worship and rituals for three days.  March 1 will be Mahashivaratri and March 2 will be Amavasya.  On this day, devotees will complete the ritual by performing pooja-arch.

 Auspicious time for Shiva worship

Mahashivaratri Chaturdashi Tithi will be on Tuesday, March 1 from 3.16 am to 1 pm on March 2.  Many auspicious yogas are also happening on this day due to the coincidence of five planets.  On Shivaratri Dhanishtha Nakshatra is becoming a yoga called Paridhi and after this yoga Shatabhisha Nakshatra will start.  At the same time Shiva Yoga will start after Paridh Yoga.  Along with this there will be Kedar Yoga at the time of Shiva worship.
